Slightly later than usual but I am bringing you my monthly report, with this time the focus on December. Apologies for not getting this out earlier in the month but it has been an extremely hectic start to the year for me.

Well it has to be said that December was a very solid month for us. There were great personal achievements attained by individuals but the particularly pleasing thing was the number who returned solid positive returns for the team.

There were many who edged forward by one, two or three points in net score over the month. This is very important for the team. However, there were no fewer than 15 team members who finished the month with a net gain of between four and eight team points. Fantastic guys – it is this consistency that helps makes us such a powerful unit as a team. It’s just part of the reason why we are where we are … at the top of the GameKnot team table in terms of overall team score.

Of the individual scores of note this month I have to mention Mitchle, our 70-year-old team mate Lloyd from Philadelphia in the US, who was one of those attaining a net gain of eight points in the month. I mention Lloyd because his eight points wiped out his entire net deficit and brought him back level overall. Now that’s always a good feeling.

I also have to mention Gibsonscot, otherwise known as Scott from Red Deer in Canada. By his own admission three or four months back he had hit a trough sliding to a team net score of around minus 30. He was trying to carry too many games at the time and his play suffered as a result. We discussed it and he chose to limit the number of his team games to 20 at a time and to focus hard on the 64 squares. The result has been steady recovery that went into turbo charge in December with a net gain of 10 points leaving him on just minus four overall. A great recovery and well done.

We had two players registering overall gains of plus 12 in the month with the first of these being Sonofander_pict, or John from Recife in Brazil, who wiped out his team score of minus seven to move to plus five. Fantastic stuff John and well done.

The other team mate with a gain of a dozen points for the team was spursboy, Alan from Leeds in England. Alan is a tremendous asset to the team taking on a phenomenal number of games for us each month and he completed another 35 games for us in December. He has also continued to grow his overall score and by the end of the year he was getting close to claiming second spot behind our former Captain Nat. We’re proud of you Alan and I hope you enjoy the recent match I set you up against the Manchester United fans team. For those of you who don’t know, “spurs” refers to his love of Tottenham Hotspur – the English Premier League soccer team.

However, the Most Valued Player award for December was reserved for a true veteran of the Fighting Warriors team – a certain team mate who plays appropriately under the user name of Chesscommander. Chesscommander – or Dendermonde from Belgium - is creeping up fast on the top three positions in overall team score. He gained a net plus of 13 points for the team in December from a total of 31 completed matches to move to an overall plus score of 147 for the team. An excellent performance well worthy of the MVP and what a great way to finish of a tremendous year of progress for the team as whole.

Finally I have news of a new recruit for the team. However, as this is our first new recruit for a long time I will send details of this out in a separate note.

Once again, many thanks for all your efforts and we all look forward to attaining new heights in 2010.

Onwards and upwards – as ever.
