Well what a January and what a start to the year. Some exemplar performances this month to point out. The stand out performance in terms of points gained is a clear one. Our former Captain achilles13 got back into full swing completing no fewer than 54 games and clocking up 42 plus points for the team. At Nat’s request he does not earn himself the January mvp award and this is really for two reasons. Firstly, as we know Nat began his comeback with a rating of around 900, which is far below his playing ability. He was expecting to pick up some quick points therefore around that range and he has truly delivered. He is also conscious that a lot of this work has been about clawing back points lost following his departure. This all said it has been a fantastic effort from Nat and my thanks to him for that. To add to this he has also been helping to identify some new recruits and four of these have been announced already. We have some more to announce tomorrow. So to other performances almost too many to list and note. Spursboy – Alan from Yorkshire in England – continues his excellent progression with yet another 10 plus points for the team. He marches on and on. It was a good month for Emwas, or Ingar from Oslo in Norway, who notched up 13 plus points across the month. There were a host of positive performances and even your Captain managed to gain 14 points in January – wonders never cease. Smcgre04, otherwise known as Steve from Canberra in Australia, is another player who has steadily been working his way up the team leader board in terms of team score. He is solidly in fourth place and added a further 15 plus points to his name. Excellent month Steve. But January’s mvp award goes to milotoys – Mike from Long Island in New York, USA – who completed an incredible 48 team matches in January and gained a net positive score of 17 points in the month. Superb stuff Mike and congratulations. I said I would have an answer on the Rybka match situation for today. I am still working on this and will come back once a clear route forward is found. I have one excellent proposal for a way of resurrecting things from tjbuege and I am exploring this. In the meantime, we have noticed that there are four players who have not played any team matches at all in the past two or three months. One of these (Omacron) I am extremely concerned about as despite great efforts to contact him we have no word of him. I am very worried as this is totally unlike Bob. I am unsure of the position with the other three but will be attempting to find out to see what, if anything, can be done to get them going again. Once again, well done to everyone. A superb month which now leaves us almost 400 points clear of our second place rival New York Lovers. Onwards and upwards – as ever. Andy (wanderingwolf) |
